The Victorian Trades Hall is the oldest operating trade union headquarters in the world.
Located on the corner of Victoria & Lygon Streets, Trades Hall has been a focal point for trade union and social justice activities since 1873.
Built as monument to the successful struggle for the eight hour day in 1856, from the very start the Trades Hall has housed arts and musical events as well as trade union and other progressive organisations.
Today the Trades Hall continues this tradition as the venue for cutting edge arts, community conferences and meetings and of course as the offices of the Victorian Trades Hall Council and many other organisations.
